Summer Team Building Events

By: Megan Jones

Summer is finally here in the east bay! After a long June gloom, we are finally beginning to experience beautiful sunny weather. For me personally, working in office in the summer can be more difficult because the warm weather feels as though it warrants spending more time outside. If this resonates with you, consider creating some fun summer team building events to help get your employees to enjoy the summer weather while creating stronger team networking ties. Here are few summer themed team building events to consider adding to your calendar during the summer months.

All Hands Picnic

Consider taking your next team all hands meeting outside. If the budget allows, you can provide a lunch or snack for the meeting. It can be a great way to get outside and bring the team together. You can also extend the meeting out and plan fun games and activities such as volleyball, corn hole, or Jenga. It can be a great way to bring some fun to your meetings, and enjoy the sunny weather.

Ice Cream/Popsicle Social

Food is a great way to bring people together, and the same logic applies to colleagues. With the summer weather, ice cream or popsicles are a great way to cool off during a warm afternoon. It can be after work event, or during a lunch period.

Wellness Walks

Another great way to get outside is to make breaks more interactive by getting your colleagues together and going on a walk. You can offer a walk during one of their 15-minute break periods. It is a great way to get outside and even add some movement into the workday.

Summer BBQ Potluck

Consider scheduling an extra long lunch and ask your team to bring their favorite dish that they would bring to a BBQ. Potlucks are a great way to bring people together and allows colleagues to try a variety of different dishes.

In the adult world, we unfortunately do not get a summer break, however, that doesn’t mean you cannot add some fun to the workplace!
